Reasons why you should start reading.

Reasons why you should start reading.

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one”

There are millions of people around the globe settling on a plan of actions, to conduct on New Year. Every year people set goals for themselves to read books or to start reading. But just like most of the resolutions, this also becomes just another word. Most of us would like to read a book, but starting and keeping up with the new habit becomes difficult.

Here is a guide to why you should start and go great guns in it.

#1Models personality:

When you open a book or fire a gun, you don’t know what the impact would be or how far the shot will go”
Reading has a great impact on making, breaking, or changing the personality altogether. Every good reading helps you to form a better you, helping you to develop your imagination and enhance creativity. An important personality trait jacked up through reading is Empathy, the ability to understand someone else’s feelings and point of view, through knowledge, experiences, and stories.

“Reading is an exercise in empathy. An exercise in walking in someone else’s shoes for a while.”

#2Imparts Knowledge:

The more you read, the more things you know. The more that you’ll learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Reading is important because it develops your mind. Understanding and assimilating the content is one way the mind grows in its ability. Reading can expose you to new things, information, and new ways to solve a problem and to achieve one thing. Who knows- you might actually explore something you really like and it may end up becoming your career and success in future, sometimes, it takes a man a sight of time to learn the simplest things, it seems.

#3Revamps your memory and concentration:

“To observe attentively is to remember distinctly” Edgar Allan Poe

To read something, you need to concentrate and be focused for long periods of time. You force your mind to grasp all the information by reading and re-reading it with increased concentration. One of the greatest benefits that one might get from reading is improved memory and concentration. Reading trains your mind as well quoted by Sir Richard Steele:

“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body”

#4Attenuate Stress:

I have never known any distress that an hour’s reading did not relieve”  Montesquieu

Books are the best distraction for your mind, transporting you into a world of imagination. A study conducted by the University of Sussex found that just 6 minutes of reading a good book can help reduce blood pressure, muscle tension, and calms your mind.

#5Best companion in your solitude:

Reading well is one of the great pleasure that solitude can afford”

Books are the best companion in your solitude. They have nothing to ask and complain about. They would be with you through all thick and thins of your life.

These are just a few reasons to show the importance of reading in anyone’s life. There are countless other reasons why and how reading is beneficial for you. Learning is a continuous process in life, and to get better results one must never stop learning. The best way to learn effectively and in more of an enjoyable manner is to Read effectively and a lot.

Happy Reading!

The Past Of A Journey!

Ever wondered what a one-day trip could be like? Well, let me take you through one. Not having had an adventure for quite a long time, my stomach started growling, as it was also bored of being the only victim of my boredom (eating, of course). And I was also bored of eating, given that I was mostly eating to evade boredom.  So, one dawn, it dawned on me to pay a visit to my sister's without breaking the news to anyone in the house. Hold on!! I am not alone on this journey; we all have a crime partner in our lives who stands with us through the silliest of things that we do ( here I'm dismissing the fact that most of the things that we do are not normal anyway). So, boredom and the urge for an adventure compelled us to plan to go out and have fun.  Boredom makes us do the craziest and most creative of things.   As I was asleep like a vegetable, dreaming about being on a fantastic trip, someone shook me out of that slumber to the real world, reminding me of the fact t...

Karachi Chronicles: A Story of hilarity and hijinks!

Ever heard about someone courting disaster or pushing one's luck?  Well, I did! And that's exactly where I turned toward the "Bad Beginning" on the epic saga of my Journey to Karachi.  Let me tell you how it all started.  It was one fine day; I was sitting and having a good time with my family when the phone rang. Now, that was quite unusual cause my phone doesn't ring often, and when it does, it's the Ufone recorded calls. So, as I said earlier, the phone call was unusual, as it was my Mamu calling from Karachi with a wedding invitation for his son. Now, that sounded like a great opportunity to escape from my usual routine and jump out for an exciting trip! Little did I know what I was getting myself into! Just like me, all my other siblings were also excited and had their hearts set for this trip; I guess we all needed a lesson to not poke our noses in everything.  Since everyone wanted to go and only six available spots (Only Desi Family Things), there was...

The Past Of A Journey: Part 2

You might have read the first part of The Past Of A Journey , where I was stuck between space and time in a van. Not that I was stuck in the concept that recognizes the union of space and time or the spacetime curve. I was stuck in the limited space of the van with the "Coke ki botlain." and had limited time to make my journey successful. I had no choice but to look back at the long road on which the van was moving as delicately as a fat seal, strolling down a trail. After eons of waiting, we finally landed at the Faizabad station in Pindi. Oh, behold, it's just as you're about to dive in a sea of people and vans everywhere. Making your way through this crowd is an arduous journey itself. One can see people standing with vans yelling at the top of their voices about their transport services, which is no different from the one I took to reach here. Moving forward to the metro station, there are kids selling masks who stick to you like leeches and do not stop following...
